So, in spite of all the time that I have to read, I'm finding myself with a total lack of desire to read. I've got a few books on my Nook that I'm just not finishing. Delirium is fantastic but I just can't sit down and get through it. I have books I'm supposed to be reading for review but I'm stalled.
I've had writer's block before but never reader's block. Oy! Do you ever find yourself in this position? What do you do to get out of it?

I do find myself in this position from time to time. Since most of my books are library books, I am usually motivated by due dates. When I don't feel like reading, I take a break, sometimes a few days off before I come back to it. Hope this helps.

I'm often in a reader's block, what with schoolwork taking up most of my time, that when I finally finish it all I don't feel like reading anymore.
ReplyDeleteI read about upcoming releases to get excited about books again, and then figure out what I want to read most. Usually makes me happy to read again.
I usually get reader's block when I'm reading something less interesting. I usually go read a different book instead.
ReplyDeleteWe've all been there. Reading is like life, you always have ups and downs with it. I'm in a bit of a slump right now too, It's taking me 3 weeks to finish a book that I'm actually enjoying. You just have to push thru it Jen! In a few weeks, maybe even a few days your going to pick up a book that is so amazing it'll knock you back on track. When you read as much as most book bloggers do (around 14 or more books a month) one of the biggest things you'll have to get used to are the unexpected reading slumps...
ReplyDeleteI just take a day or two or three off and do something else I enjoy. Most people have constructive hobbies like knitting or scrapbooking or jogging. I play video games. After so many hours of doing that, my brain begs for me to read =]
